The Ring of Kerry is an ideal place for a romantic weekend break. There are many reasons why you should plan on visiting this part of the world.


1. Kenmare.

One of the common areas to visit on the Ring of Kerry is Kenmare. This is a picturesque town which becomes even more intriguing on a market day. You can get to see a beautiful library in the area and shop for some local food to eat if you are planning on going for a picnic. Kenmare is also a great place to stop off to enjoy some of the restaurants and pubs and it is very lively especially at weekends.


2. Nature.

If you love nature then you have a good reason to go to the Ring of Kerry. You can get to visit the place where Queen Victoria ladies in waiting stopped to watch the magnificent view of the County Kerry. This place is commonly referred to as the Ladies View. From that point, you will get a great view of the mountains and lakes as well as the rich landscape of County Kerry.

3. The Gap of Dunloe.

The Gap of Dunloe is a famous tourist attraction in proximity of the Ring of Kerry. It is a narrow mountain pass that is between the Purple Mountain and the Macgillycuddy's Reeks. The Macgillycuddy's Reeks is a beautiful mountain range in the area that spreads throughout the ring. The Purple Mountain was named after the purplish shale that is seen covering the top of the mountain. Within the Gap of Dunloe, you can view some of the amazing lakes of the area. They include the Black Lake, Coosaun Lough, Auger Lake, Black Lough and Cushnavally Lake. There is also a historic bridge known as the Wishing Bridge at the Gap where you can make your wishes and spend some quality time with your loved one.


4. Derrynane.

You can also enjoy some private time at the beach with your loved one. The Derrynane beach is on the ring close to Sneem. You can walk across to the Abbey Island and get to appreciate the beautiful nature. You can also swim, walk or practice horse riding at this spectacular beach.


5. Caragh Lake.

This beautiful lake in the proximity of the Ring of Kerry is an ideal spot for a romantic or a family picnic. The lake is included within a large Special Area of Conservation and is glacial in origin.
